Beatles are above

Casady would be at the top of the page.

Thanks to Don Aters and Herb Greene.

As you enjoy the gem from the Beatles-Circus Krone, Munich, Germany June 24,1966 (“I Feel Fine” from German TV) please remember the new Jefferson Airplane book “Take Me To A Circus Tent” W/5 STAR REVIEWS!

If you relax for a bit I’ll try to have Part 2 of 3 for you from the cool show with 3 Airplane members playing classic tunes.

Hello Airplaners and welcome to Friday:

August 18, 89 The Jefferson Airplane takes the stage for the first time since 9/22/72 Winterland, San Francisco.  On the opening night of the reunion tour as the final encore the Airplane pulls out of the flight cabin “The Other Side Of This Life.”  Written by Freddie Neil, the J.A. last played the song August 12, 72 at Roosevelt Raceway, Westbury, New York.  No other 1989 show would see this in the set list!  Enjoy a treasure from the Air Machine.  Click please the above link and you’ll be back to 1989.

Sorry if any of you on board had trouble with this the past 48 hours.  The Air Staff worked on the flight and here you go!    It is the terrific cover of “Show Me The Way To Go Home” from Paul Kantner’s Wooden Ships.  As mentioned previously Emerson, Lake, & Palmer performed a terrific version as well.  Below is the way to board the flight and hear the tune!  Thanks!

A very large thanks to you fine people.  Thursday, August 30th, 2007 was the highest views the Airplane Man’s Blog has received!  The Grateful Dead fans helped out.  It is appreciated!  Thanks to all.

Remember to check the complete contents of the Flight Blog on the right side ofthe page please.  This week alone we had Allman Brothers rarities, Paul Kantner with Crosby, Stills, and Nash, a member of Cream and ELP and Tull playing a Beatles tune, 6 terrific Jefferson Starship songs from the vaults and much more!

It was a terrific surprise the Yankees got 3 games from the Red Sox.  What hurts is still being 5 out with only 1 month left.  The Yanks April and May caused all the problems they are attempting to overcome.  The only blame is in the mirror.

Have a great Friday and I’ll try to find some great Jack Casady photos from 66 for you in the next 24 hours.

All the best,

craig

How are you?

Back again because there were several requests for more material from a show with Marty and Paul that I played some tracks from a couple of days back.  One of my favorite Jefferson Starship gigs from any era.  It is that strong.

Quick reminder that the really cool All-Star musicians playing a Beatles classic is worth checking out.  Please look to the right side of the page.  If you dig the Beatles, Animals, Cream, ELP, and Jethro Tull it is a wonderful treat!

Please also look to the right of the page for the cool Allman Brother music and some great Herb Greene photos from the Airplane days.  Always click the month so you get every entry for 30 days.  That would include Paul Kantner playing with Crosby, Stills, and Nash for instance!

Lineup: Paul Kantner, Marty Balin, Diana Mangano, Slick Aguilar, Prairie Prince, Chris Smith

Hello and welcome to Wednesday night.

How did the day go?  Mine got better about five minutes ago.  For about 24 hours there was a problem around the nation with AT & T being about to route connections to certain sites.  One was the page I use to update the website for the Jefferson Airplane book “Take Me To A Circus Tent.”  The connection would time out and I couldn’t get to the site to let people know there was a situation.  I couldn’t update with a real nice gem from the vaults.   As you are aware all too well computers and software are tremendous but when something goes astray it is brutal waiting for rectification.

Here we go and better late than never.

Jefferson Starship –October 29, 2002 from Newcastle Opera House, Newcastle, U.K. Paul Kantner,Marty Balin,

Diana Mangano,

Slick Aguilar,

Chris Smith,

and Prairie Prince.

They perform 3 Airplane GEMS for you.  Not exactly a new Aircast but a close facsimile. Young Girl Sunday Blues,She Has Funny Cars, and Comin’ Back To Me

Enjoy and have a great evening,

Hello and welcome to Tuesday in Airplane land:

How are you this morning?  There is a goody from the vault.  The Airplane with Friend the late great Nicky Hopkins on keyboards and never forgetting the late great group member Spencer Dryden.

From Dick Cavett August 18, 69 for playback the next day, the Airplane “We Can Be Together” w/cool guest Nicky Hopkins. We miss you Spencer, and Nicky!   Mr. Hopkins played with the Airplane at Woodstock and stayed 1 more day to perform on the Dick Cavett taping.

Check out a couple of things.  Joni Mitchell is sitting with Dick Cavett and she seems to enjoy the Airplane’s music and Grace has mentioned over the years when she has trouble hearing she’ll cup her hand near her ear.  In the early portion of the tune she clearly will search for a better stage sound.

I’ve been a Yankee fanatic since 1967.  In my younger days I would hide a small radio under the pillow so I could hear the west coast games.  You never get used to losing.  Mike Mussina has decided he would like an E.R.A. over 6.  For you non baseball fans a starting pitcher in the American League could be considered doing their job with an E.R.A. around 3.50.  E.R.A. means earned run average.  It is how many runs the pitcher is responsible per game.  The term earned is used because if a player makes an error they may end up giving the other team a run that isn’t earned against the pitcher.

Hope your baseball team is better than mine!

Have a great day and always check back for the rarities.  The latest Aircast was posted yesterday and it has the remaining tunes from the Jam with Garcia, Hart, Jorma, Jack and friends from 1968!  There is about 25 minutes of music for you!

Be well always,

craig

Hello and welcome to Monday.

How did the weekend go?  Watching the Yankees isn’t the best way to spend three hours.  How about we enjoy a few moments with an unreleased Airplane track on video for you fine flyers.  This way my stomach can settle down.

Back in the Airplane Time Machine to March 26, 1970  The Airplane featuring the vocals of Mr. Marty Balin perform:
EMERGENCY, “THE DICK CAVETT SHOW” 3/26/70.

The song never saw a release on a vinyl recording.  It finally surfaced on the Box Set.

Have a great day and feel so good,

craig

How are you this early morning?  Welcome to Saturday.

When the Jefferson Airplane were finishing up the 89 reunion tour it was believed that the free concert in the park (Golden Gate San Francisco September 30, 89) was the final gig.  However that is not the case.  From the Airplane Man’s vault to you:

Washington, D.C. October 7, 89 “She Has Funny Cars.”

Outside on the lawn a cry to help the poor.  Billed as the “Homeless Benefit” the Airplane played a short 23:00 set.  All previous 89 shows opened with “She Has Funny Cars.”  This gig the first song was ”Somebody To Love.”

If you aren’t aware of the extra folks on stage:  Randy Jackson from Zebra helped with guitar, keyboards-

Jorma’s brother Peter Kaukonen played guitar-

Tim Gorman on keyboards and-

the drummer was????????

Good guess Kenny Aronoff known from his days with John Mellencamp and a zillion session appearances.

Check it out and I’ll see you in the Air Machine as we enjoy 1989 together.

Always be well,

craig
