Welcome to the Jefferson CSNY flight:

Thanks for sharing part of the holiday with me. I have a couple of gems from the Rock Tent Vaults. We fly back to 1970 and go to the great United Kingdom. It’s David Crosby and Graham Nash performing:

Simple Man

There will be pictures of the show for you as well as the audio. There is a great arrangement of the song by Graham. He is solo at the piano for almost the entire tune and at the very end David walks over to help. Cool stuff from a great rock and roll year. The links as always are below.

Enjoy the show and the photos too! We have over 500 on the ship. From Allman Brothers to Beatles, CSNY to Cream, and Doors to Jefferson Airplane, you can see the past and make it a memory for the future. There are many more artists as well.

A large thank you to Eric and Mark for posting 5 Star Reviews for my new Jefferson Starship book “Have You Seen The Stars Tonite.” It is such a great feeling when the people you write for appreciate the end results. It is nice of anyone to take part of a day or night to think enough of me to post a review. The books are proudly featured at Amazon! The Jefferson Starship and the Jefferson Airplane “Take Me to A Circus Tent.” THANK YOU all for your support!

Explore and have fun.

I look forward to hearing you later!

The book is Take Me To A Circus Tent (The Jefferson Airplane Flight Manual) W/93 photos, 32 interviews, 543 pages, and a myriad of 5 star reviews!

Please remember at any moment on an Aircast it can be a rare memory from the Jefferson Airplane, Jefferson Starship, KBC, Wooden Ships, Marty Balin, Paul Kantner to name several. Maybe another picture previously unseen from the Rock Tent Vault sees daylight from Herb Greene or Don Aters.

For the Crosby and Nash audio and photo flights you can fly here:

Greetings from the Summer Rock Tour:

Hope things are fantastic. Not so much if you root for the Yankees. Before we get to the pure gem from the Rock Tent Vault, a reminder for you to look at the right side of the page. Recently we have had photos of Emerson, Lake, Palmer, exclusive pictures from the festival that had the return of Signe Anderson, Jefferson Starship nuggets, and Beatles From The Vaults. Enjoy the time on the plane and take in all the sights and sounds.

Let’s go back to 1992 for one of the finest tunes ever written.

It’s the Allman Brothers unplugged and on top of their game.

Melissa

Enjoy the journey and the memories!

How are you?

Back again because there were several requests for more material from a show with Marty and Paul that I played some tracks from a couple of days back.  One of my favorite Jefferson Starship gigs from any era.  It is that strong.

Quick reminder that the really cool All-Star musicians playing a Beatles classic is worth checking out.  Please look to the right side of the page.  If you dig the Beatles, Animals, Cream, ELP, and Jethro Tull it is a wonderful treat!

Please also look to the right of the page for the cool Allman Brother music and some great Herb Greene photos from the Airplane days.  Always click the month so you get every entry for 30 days.  That would include Paul Kantner playing with Crosby, Stills, and Nash for instance!

Lineup: Paul Kantner, Marty Balin, Diana Mangano, Slick Aguilar, Prairie Prince, Chris Smith

Hello and welcome to Sunday.

Before we get to the star of the flight (Jack and Jimi from the Airplane Man’s time machine) I wanted to apologize for any difficulty any of you fine folks had the past 24 hours or so being able to land on the Airplane Man’s Word Press Airfield. There obviously was some technical glitch on the site (Not only my portion of the Airfield) and either it took so long to connect you could end up celebrating eight more birthdays or the connection would time out. This is the first time in 1 year or so that I have experienced any trouble on the site and considering how many people they have to make happy they have done a great job.  Hopefully this is very isolated and we are able to enjoy the Airplane Man’s journey to the Rock & Roll Time Machine.  This morning we get an early start with: Jack Casady W/Jimi Hendrix- “Hey Joe” from Winterland, 10/10/68 in San Francisco, California. An audio gem for sure but as an added bonus for you we throw in amazing Herb Greene photos circa 1966 from the Jefferson Airplane. For my book on the Airplane “Take Me To A Circus Tent”Herb supplied a myriad of photos and here is an opportunity to enjoy some that did not make it to the book.  Also thanks to the great shot of the Jefferson Airplane Mansion by the legendary rock and roll photographer for 40 years Don Aters! Listen a few times to soak up the genius as Airplane Bass Meets Jimi Guitar. I’ll try to post another Jimi and Jack if you enjoy this one! A reminder please that while you enjoy Jimi and Jack please check out the numerous updates from the vaults the past couple of weeks. All you do is look to the right and it will have the past several listed for you.  If you still don’t see what you seek please click on the Month and all the updates will display.  These include 2 Allman Brothers videos live with Duane, a nice Jefferson Starship tribute to Jerry Garcia, a video from the final Airplane reunion of 89,Tom Constanten’s tremendous version of “Cold Rain & Snow” andall the recent Jefferson Aircasts with rarities on top of rarities! Thanks for flying by please spread the word and be well.

All the best,

craig

Hello there Airplane and Allman fans and welcome to the Airplane Man’s musical universe on a Saturday.

Thanks for flying by.  If I may take a moment to say thank you to the many Allman fans that sent Airmails enjoying the previous Allman video w/Duane.  If you could please spread the word about my Jefferson Airplane book, blog, the Podcast (Aircast), and website to the fine Allman fans throughout the world it is greatly appreciated.  The book is “Take Me To A Circus Tent” W/93 photos, 32 interviews, and many 5 star reviews.  There are endless photos by Herb Greene who took the cover shot to the Airplane’s 2nd LP.  Most photos in the book have not been previously published.

Now the main event.  The reason you are here:  Allmans’ legendary September 23, 1970 Fillmore East, NYC gig. Most of the time Greg’s microphone isn’t working but Duanne and Dickie sure are!! Enjoy and please prevent me from starving.

Yes I am an idiot.  I stay up to 4 in the morning to watch the Yankees lose, Seatle win and the Red Sox sweep a doubleheader!

Thank you and be well.

All the best from the fabulous Fillmore,

craig the airplane man

Hello again and welcome to Friday afternoon.

So you need the slightest push to get you through the next few hours before the weekend.  How about this one from the vaults of the author of the Jefferson Airplane book “Take Me To A Circus Tent.”  The Allman Brothers on video from the:

Fillmore East, New York City on September 23, 1970. Here is Part 1 and 2 of “In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed.”  Yes with Duane.

When the concert opened legendary promoter Bill Graham did the intro.  This was originally filmed to be part of a Public Broadcasting TV Special.  Sit back and say hello to our  friends from Macon, Georgia.

Please don’t forget the cool clip of Marty Balin and Slick playing a Jefferson Airplane classic that I posted several hours ago.

Have a great weekend and I’ll try to be back with another one from the vault Saturday.

All the best,

Starving Author
