Welcome to Eyes & ears Of weekend Rock:

I hope you had the best week ever. Glad you are aboard

the flight. It’s a doubleheader of

Sight and Sound from the Jefferson Family for you as fly

toward the planet called earth.

I have to get serious for a moment before we get into

the rock and roll. The post is dedicated to a true hero.

It has nothing to do with what song is being featured or

the photos. It is to let the world know how rare of an

individual this man was. I can only imagine the pain the

family of Sgt. Rafael Peralta is feeling. They lost their

Marine Corp son November 15, 2004 in Iraq. While

already injured he put his body on top of a hand grenade

to prevent the full impact from killing the rest of his

fellow marines. It was announced this week he would

receive the second highest honor the Navy Cross and not

the most prestigious Medal of Honor.

What could be braver than having the frame of mind

when your own body has been ravished with injuries to

give your life so others can one day run into the arms of

the loved ones?

To the family Peralta your son may not have received

the honor he deserved but you have the knowledge to

know few would do what he did.

It’s now rock and roll time! A double dose of Jefferson Starship from the July 18^th, 2008 performance 7/18/08 at:

It’s almost the weekend! How are you? There is so much going on for the flight that the rock and roll is the size of the national debt for our journey. Treasures all for you great people in free-flight. How do I begin. We have a vintage Jefferson Airplane photo that contains both Signe Anderson and Skip Spence for you, a Simon and Garfunkel performance from December of 1965 Sing Out, and a photo of Mick Taylor from the Rolling Stones 1974. To end the journey a bunch of Gentle Giant and their musical genius from 1978 (pictures). Something for all as we head toward the great day called Saturday.

I wanted to thank Amazon for getting the new Jefferson Starship book “Have You Seen The Stars Tonite” ready for sale on the site so quickly.  It isn’t common for a 3 week wait the way I had for the Jefferson Airplane book “Take Me To A Circus Tent.”  In record time they have come through in a big way!  Thanks to them and to you for all the airmails asking “Are we there yet?”

Thanks for flying with your host Craig Fenton.  How are things? 

Two really strong ones from the Airmachine as we go back to 1989 for the reunion and the old Airplane favorites are part of the journey.  It’s a great summer night August of 89 and after 17 years the J.A. will take flight for a handful of US shows which started in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and ended in Washington, D.C. 

The memories linger forever! Joined by Peter Kaukonen, Tim Gorman, Randy Jackson, and Kenny Aronoff the plane has plenty of fuel and is flying nicely.  Enjoy!
