Welcome to the Great Rock Society:

How are things going? I hope all is great. Tuesday was a typical fantastic day in Airplane Land but I must point out that it would be nice if a company with a zillion dollar budget would have customer service available via phone and not email only. I have had an issue with a specific outfit for 15 days and it isn’t that hard to resolve. How about the Yankees giving up on the season? Monday was one of the worst performances from the team in decades.

Rock and Roll is why we are on the flight and it is GREAT! We go to the Matrix, San Francisco, California. The city by the bay has given us the rare 1966 Great Society live track:

Down Home Girl

Cool things from the Rock Tent Vault.

A large thank you to an executive of the Artists First Radio Network for giving me an hour of their time last night to talk about the books on the Jefferson Airplane- Take Me To A Curus Tent and the Jefferson Starship- Have You Seen The Stars Tonite, as well as the lectures with one time Grateful Dead member Tom Constanten and America’s Rock & Roll Photographer Don Aters. We even discussed Don’s rare rock and roll pictures for sale from the last 40 years. Thank you to those that listened. For Tony, my your mom feel better!

Got to go, rock and roll!

Please spread the

word:

The 2 new Jefferson projects have arrived!

Thanks as always!

I look forward to hearing you later!

The book is Take Me To A Circus Tent (The Jefferson Airplane Flight Manual) W/93 photos, 32 interviews, 543 pages, and a myriad of 5 star reviews!

Please remember at any moment on an Aircast it can be a rare memory from the Jefferson Airplane, Jefferson Starship, KBC, Wooden Ships, Marty Balin, Paul Kantner to name several. Maybe another picture previously unseen from the Rock Tent Vault sees daylight from Herb Greene or Don Aters.

Please board the way back rock plane here for Great Society 66:

Welcome to the Jefferson Eyes Of The World:

Thanks for hanging out with us as the flight will soon take place.  Are things going well?

Rock & Roll photos are the theme as the Rock Tent Vault keeps coming up with treasures.  Amazing how it has so many top secret levels that one could get lost looking at the rock pictures or listening to the audio gems from the past, present, and future.  Speaking of audio, I hope you listened to the world first as we played the 4 members of the original Jefferson Airplane on stage together for the first time since 1965.  If you missed the first flight, please look to the right of this page and you can explore the goodies.

1980 the Grateful Dead were in New York City to play some shows at Radio City Music Hall and we have a bunch of photos for you.  In fact not only Grateful Dead but the total of A-Z is now over 600!  There are few sites you can name that have anywhere close! Enjoy with all eyes of the world and have a great day.

Back as promised.  How are you 10 minutes later?

Doing anything nice for the holiday weekend?

I called Signe Anderson and will detail the conversation most likely Sunday morning.

Part 2 is now ready to board.  May I point you to gate JA?  Thanks.

Kantner, Balin, & Casady (KBC) from Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, California June 22, 85 Part 2 play “Ride The Tiger” from the J.S.

and the Airplane classic “Volunteers.” Summer in San Francisco, doesn’t get much better. Keep checking the posts to the right and the Monthly Archives because there is enough material to keep the tunes playing from here to the Moon. Have a great night, craig fenton

Hello there and welcome to Saturday afternoon:

Things going well I hope?  The holiday weekend is in flight and we are too.  If you fly over here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-w6j2iFynbk

You can enjoy Part 1 of 3:  As Paul Kantner, Marty Balin, and Jack Casady (KBC) perform before they even had a record at Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, California June 22, 85.  That is not all.  The first part of the journey gives us “Planes” 4 years before it was released!  As you enjoy there are the numerous rare Herb Greene photos for you to check out!

“Planes” and the Airplane clasic “Today” are on the flight.  If all goes well and there are no delays on the runway we should have Parts 2 and 3 for the late evening travelers.

Always be well and safe on the roads,

craig

Comin’ Back To Me

Road Fever- what a gem from the vaults.  It isn’t the terrific tune by Foghat, but from Marty Balin’s time when he helped Grootna in 1972 penned by 2 of the band members.

Somebody To Love*

Plastic Fantastic Lover*

You’ve done it!  Welcome to the holiday weekend and the hits keep on coming!

Any cool plans for the long weekend?

April 27th 1969 Oakland Coliseum Hendrix and Casady Voodoo Child Slight Return Jam- all seventeen plus minutes.  About 80 percent of the way through listen when Jimi calls Jack by the wrong name!  However in no way is it an insult!

There were numerous Airmails asking if I could find one more Jack and Jimi Jam.  I am glad to bring a great tune for the in flight music.  If you enjoy this one please check out the other two Jack and Jimi songs I posted recently.  You can simply look to the right of the blog and if you don’t see the title please click on a specific MONTH.  The contents for the previous 30 days will unfold and you can have hours of musical delights as we fly to and from Airplane Land.

Earlier today I posted the rare Herb Greene photos taken of Jack Casady.  I believe several of them were not used in my Jefferson Airplane book “Take Me To A Circus Tent.”  Along with the Casady pictures there was a terrific live video of the Beatles 66!  Words don’t say enough.

I’ll let you rest and hear the music.  Thanks for flying by.  Maybe some more gems from the Airplane Man’s vault can surface late night or early morning.

Be safe on the roads and enjoy,

craig

Hello and welcome to Friday again:

Hope the day is going great. Right now 2 for the price of nothing!  If you click above the Jefferson Airmachine brings you back to 1966 for a Beatles gem (Video) and as promised the Jefferson Airplane photos of Jack Casady circa 66/67.  Please scroll down and simply click on the links!  Thank you as always to Herb Greene.  I’ve attempted to give you pictures that did not make the Jefferson Airplane book “Take Me To A Circus Tent.”  Although 93 did, it would have been impossible to fit all the cool shots over the years from Herb Greene and Don Aters.

Please keep the ideas flowing for the Jefferson Aircasts!  Remember it is for you the fine flyers that board a seat on the Airplaneman’s flight.  Thanks as always!  Maybe if I can fly back in time this evening I can find another Jack Casady and Jimi Hendrix appearance for you.

This just in from the Airfield command.  If you fly here there will be more Beatles video for you and rare Jack photos!  Alert Alert Alert.  Now back to the regular blog.  Thank you.

Hello Airplaners and welcome to Friday:

August 18, 89 The Jefferson Airplane takes the stage for the first time since 9/22/72 Winterland, San Francisco.  On the opening night of the reunion tour as the final encore the Airplane pulls out of the flight cabin “The Other Side Of This Life.”  Written by Freddie Neil, the J.A. last played the song August 12, 72 at Roosevelt Raceway, Westbury, New York.  No other 1989 show would see this in the set list!  Enjoy a treasure from the Air Machine.  Click please the above link and you’ll be back to 1989.

Sorry if any of you on board had trouble with this the past 48 hours.  The Air Staff worked on the flight and here you go!    It is the terrific cover of “Show Me The Way To Go Home” from Paul Kantner’s Wooden Ships.  As mentioned previously Emerson, Lake, & Palmer performed a terrific version as well.  Below is the way to board the flight and hear the tune!  Thanks!

http://www.takemetoacircustent.net/media/SMTWTGH.mp3

A very large thanks to you fine people.  Thursday, August 30th, 2007 was the highest views the Airplane Man’s Blog has received!  The Grateful Dead fans helped out.  It is appreciated!  Thanks to all.

Remember to check the complete contents of the Flight Blog on the right side ofthe page please.  This week alone we had Allman Brothers rarities, Paul Kantner with Crosby, Stills, and Nash, a member of Cream and ELP and Tull playing a Beatles tune, 6 terrific Jefferson Starship songs from the vaults and much more!

It was a terrific surprise the Yankees got 3 games from the Red Sox.  What hurts is still being 5 out with only 1 month left.  The Yanks April and May caused all the problems they are attempting to overcome.  The only blame is in the mirror.

Have a great Friday and I’ll try to find some great Jack Casady photos from 66 for you in the next 24 hours.

All the best,

craig

How are you?

Back again because there were several requests for more material from a show with Marty and Paul that I played some tracks from a couple of days back.  One of my favorite Jefferson Starship gigs from any era.  It is that strong.

Quick reminder that the really cool All-Star musicians playing a Beatles classic is worth checking out.  Please look to the right side of the page.  If you dig the Beatles, Animals, Cream, ELP, and Jethro Tull it is a wonderful treat!

Please also look to the right of the page for the cool Allman Brother music and some great Herb Greene photos from the Airplane days.  Always click the month so you get every entry for 30 days.  That would include Paul Kantner playing with Crosby, Stills, and Nash for instance!

Lineup: Paul Kantner, Marty Balin, Diana Mangano, Slick Aguilar, Prairie Prince, Chris Smith
